Shalom!
Yedid is in high spirits and resting at Kibbutz Cholit. On Friday, the kvutzah spent a relaxed day at the pool, followed by a Kabbalat Shabbat with the world movement. Each country was able to take part in the Kabbalat Shabbat and share their country's culture and traditions.
On Saturday, Yedid went to the Kinneret, the Sea of Gallilee. In the morning, they visited the local water park, and in the afternoon, toured the Kinneret Training Farm. The kvutzah was able to learn abotu the early chalutzim, pioneers, from the Second Aliyah, and saw how Israel was settled. That evening, they participated in a peula about Hagshama, actualization, and discussed the relevance of living out one's beliefs.
Today, the kvutzah went to Givat Haviva, an educational institution founded by Hashomer Hatzair, dedicated to peace and holocoust studies. At Givat Haviva, the kvutzah saw the archives of Hashomer Hatzair, including old memorabilia, such as pins and flags. Later, the kvutzah sifted through the archives and even found signatures written by their family and friends. Afterwards, the kvutzah travelled southwards to Kibbutz Cholit, where they are currently enjoying a nice dinner.

ReplyDeletePictures of course would be nice, but I am sure we are all happy to be able to read the blog. Thank you for taking the time out of what I am sure is a very busy day to write this and keep us parents informed and updated. I look forword to each new entry. The kids seem to be having an awsome time. I am so glad to get a little look at what they are doing every few days.

ReplyDelete(I don't have any kids on Yedid this year.) My daughter Dara, who is spending the summer in Israel, is visiting Holit. (She was the madricha of the US kids on Yedid a few years ago.) She said all of them look great, are very happy, and she also added that she can't believe how grown-up they seem - very mature, thoughtful, and alert. Thought you would want to know,
